Obama, debt limit, social security and priorities. A Limerick.

Obama said in mid July 2011 “I’ll be turning fifty in one week”. According to his “Birth Certificate” his official birthday was not until Aug 4. Maybe he was born a few weeks earlier in Kenya? Be that as it may, if he doesn’t get an increase in the debt ceiling he does not know if the Social Security checks can be paid. This is my interpretive Limerick of what he really meant:

“I don’t really care if the seniors get paid.

 We used up the trust fund in our last raid.

 There is just enough cash

For my own birthday bash.

Nothing else matters, so be not dismayed.”

What happened to the Social Security trust fund? A Limerick.

“I cannot guarantee that those checks go out on August 3rd if we haven’t resolved this issue. Because there may simply not be the money in the coffers to do it,” Mr. Obama said in an interview with CBS Evening News anchor Scott Pelley, according to excerpts released by CBS News.

Mr. President!

Will seniors get paid? Your excuse never ends.

You squandered the trust fund to pay off your friends.

 “George Bush is to blame!”

 Your mantra the same.

You own the economy now. Make amends!

Evergreen Solar is bankrupt, assets sold to China. A Limerick.

One of President Obama’s pet green companies has filed for bankruptcy.
After millions in subsidies the 135 remaining  people were laid off. Watching a bankruptcy process unfold is like watching the slow death of a company. Evergreen Solar, which announced the bankruptcy filing back in August, has sold is core assets for $6 million and some shares of the buyer, China Private Equity Investment Holdings.

Martha’s Vineyard and Corporate Jets. A Limerick.

The chief economic culprit of President Obama’s   press conference Jun 292011  was undoubtedly “corporate jets.” He mentioned them on at least six occasions, each time offering their owners as an example of a group that should be paying more in taxes. “I think it’s only fair to ask an oil company or a corporate jet owner that has done so well,” the president stated at one point, “to give up that tax break that no other business enjoys.” But the corporate jet tax break to which Obama was referring – called “accelerated depreciation,” and a popular Democratic foil of late – was reauthorized by his own stimulus package.

Michelle Obama and President Obama traveled to Martha’s Vineyard just hours apart, costing taxpayers thousands in additional expenses so she could have just a bit of extra vacation time.

Michelle Obama and her daughters arrived just before 2 pm Aug 19, 2011 on a U.S. government jet, according to the Martha’s Vineyard Times, which got its information from the local airport. The first lady’s office has been silent on her travel. President Obama arrived in the evening along with the family dog Bo.

The extra costs related to Mrs. Obama’s solo trip mainly include the flight on a specially designed military aircraft she took instead of Air Force One, as well as any extra staff and Secret Service that had to be enlisted to go with her. She would also have had her own motorcade from the airport to her vacation residence.

Mrs. Obama’s separate jet travel sends the wrong message on a host of issues, from global warming to the budget deficit to the economy – in which currently so many people can’t afford to take a vacation at all.

This is not the first time Michelle has gone on vacation ahead of the president on the taxpayers’ tab. Last December, she racked up what was likely more than $100,000 in expenses leaving early for their Hawaii vacation.

“We have the wind in our face because the American people have the wind in their faces,” David Axelrod told an audience of New Hampshire politicians and business leaders September 27. “So this is going to be a titanic struggle. But I firmly believe we’re on the right side of the struggle.”

Sasha and Malia are “Senior staff” on Michelle Obama African Safari. A Limerick.

The president’s two daughters, Sasha and Malia, were listed as “Senior Staff” on the manifest of a family safari to Africa, which cost taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars at a minimum, according to a government corruption fighter based in Washington.

Sasha, Malia are now “Senior staff”

That makes them fair game in the world of riff-raff.
