Day 77 of reading the Holy Bible in 365 days.

Matthew 24:36-51. Nobody knows the time or the day of Christ’s coming, not even Jesus at that time. Many have tried to predict it, and so far all have failed. This makes sense since we are supposed to watch and wait, and with this admonition the chapter ends.

Deuteronomy 16 describes in detail how to celebrate the Passover, the Feast of Weeks and the Feast of Tabernacles. Bring an offering, no one can go empty handed. Appoint Judges so justice can be properly administered. Do not worship any Asherah poles ever.

Deuteronomy 17, Anyone worshiping other Gods must have justice administered, including stoning. The Israelites will elect a King after they have entered the promised land. He must be an Israelite, not gathering riches or take many wives. He must read the scroll of the Law all the days of his life. As long as he does all these things he will reign a long time.

Deuteronomy 18. The LORD is the Inheritance for Priests and Levites. No Wicked Customs are allowed, such as child sacrifice, “ or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch. Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer ^”In other words: ^“Thou shalt be perfect with the Lord thy God.” Then the LORD gave a promise. He will raise up a Prophet like Moses. There will also rise up many false prophets, and they are not to be listened to.

In Matthew 11:1-19 the followers of John asked if Jesus is the Messiah. Jesus answered back that John is Elijah, sent to prepare the way.

Leviticus 22 completes the regulations for the priests and lists acceptable and unacceptable offerings.

Leviticus 23 describes the feasts of the LORD, the Sabbath, the Passover, the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the Feast of Firstfruits, the Feast of Weeks, the Feast of Trumpets, the Day of Atonement and the Feast of Tabernacles.

Leviticus 24 describes how to care for the Tabernacle Lamps and the Tabernacle Bread. Then it defines the Penalty for Blasphemy, and the Penalty for intentional injuries: “An eye for an eye.” is a direct quote from the Law, and so is “tooth for tooth”.

Romans 1:18-32 Paul explained how the wrath of God was to come on mankind because they “changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator.”

Nehemiah 6. There arose a conspiracy against Nehemiah, but he was on to them and managed to get the wall completed.

Nehemiah 7. Finally the wall was finished, and the chapter gives a list of the captives who returned to Jerusalem.

Nehemiah 8. Ezra read the Law and the returnees celebrated the Feast of Tabernacles.

September 17, read through the Holy Bible in a year.

Philippians 2:12-29. The Apostle Paul urged the believers to work out their salvation with fear and trembling. Yes, salvation is past tense (for by grace have you been saved), present tense (work out your own salvation) and future tense (you will be saved). God is independent of time (He existed before time and space and created both). Paul ended the chapter talking about Timothy and Epaphroditus.

Isaiah 63. The day of the Lord’s vengeance is coming where “the grapes of wrath are trod” and there was no one to help. Then God will show His mercy and provide salvation, but will people listen?

Isaiah 64. A prayer of petition and penance: “All our righteousness are as filthy rags”

Psalm 81, of Asaph. A Psalm for the Feast of Tabernacles.
