Obama a message has sent:
“Bail out when in doubt.” Off he went
up to Sweden no less
His pref’rence at present: Vote present
What is Obama going to do in Sweden?
Obama is arriving in Arlanda with his entourage on Wednesday morning sometime. His total entourage is 500 to 700 people, all of which pay well to stay at first class accommodations like Grand Hotel.
After that there is a 26 mile trip in his limousine, “the beast” to Stockholm. The Swedes did not want any airport noise close to Stockholm, so they built the airport at a safe distance even from the exurbs.
He will visit (in no particular order)
The Swedish “moderate” Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt and talk trade.
The Royal Technical Institute library and be shown some green energy initiatives.
The Grand Synagogue and honor the Swede Raoul Wallenberg, credited for saving over 10000 Jews in Hungary during WWII, was arrested and pined away in a Russian prison.
A dinner with the Prime Minister, maybe joined with his counterparts from Finland, Norway, Denmark and Iceland.
On Thursday morning he will pay homage to the King and Queen of Sweden at the Royal Castle before going to Russia. This is different from 4 years ago when he snubbed the King and Queen of Norway after receiving the Nobel Peace Prize.
Other than that I do not know why he has to go to Sweden instead of meeting with Putin and try to talk him out of providing more support for the Assad regime. After all he promised he would meet and negotiate with our enemies without preconditions.
After that, it is back to Arlanda and off to Russia and the G20 meeting.
He will not meet with Putin, but will meet with some gay activists in Russia. Priorities, priorities.
Here is the Obama entourage

Headline in Washington Post: Obama cancels summit meeting with Putin.
Obama will still attend the Group of 20 economic summit in St. Petersburg, Russia, but a top White House official said the president had no plans to hold one-on-one talks with Putin while there. Instead of visiting Putin in Moscow, the president will add a stop in Sweden to his early September travel itinerary.
Crybaby, why go to Sweden?
Putin will not give you Snowden?
Air Force One is no toy
You’re a man, not a boy.
Face it Obama, you’re beaten.
Why go to Sweden?
Is it to learn of the success of the 25% VAT (National sales tax)?
Is it their success in rooting out home schooling?
Is it their solid support of the Palestinians over the Israelis?
Is it confusion between Sweden and Norway? Norway, not Sweden gives out the Nobel Peace Prize, and he needs people who still admire him.
Is it to learn more about green energy?
Is it because Sweden has the ideal welfare state where even the conservatives are for it?
Is it because everybody belongs to a union in Sweden, even the employers have a union?
Is it to show Putin he is having more flexibility after the election?
Whatever the reason, it is not leadership.
Every now and then there is a news story that upsets me, and I am not clear why this story and not the riots in Egypt, the disregard for constitutional law, the general breakdown of civility and countless other stories that should upset you. The video shown below is of a Russian woman living in Sweden with her twin daughters and the government takes them away from her to protect the children from her. I know nothing of the case except it does not pass the smell test.
Maybe it is because as a child growing up in Sweden we lived in a textile town with an unusual amount of refugees from WWII, mostly from Estonia, but also Finland and Lithuania. I had many Estonian playmates. They spoke perfect Swedish, but their parents, often a single mom spoke none and were dependent on their children to function in the Swedish society. The Children translated the letters the government sent them and tried as a family to cope in this foreign land. They made it through only because their family unit, broken as it was, was all they had and this was enough.
Fast forward to today. Sweden is a total welfare state, champion of Children’s rights (against their parents). This means that the State, not the parents has total control over the children. There is a strong movement to take away the Parents Rights here in the U.S.
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s goal is to make this country sign the UNITED NATIONS Convention on the Rights of the Child. This convention is signed by 194 countries but not US and Somalia. While looking good on paper the effect of this convention is that the State (Remember “separation of Church and State”) has first dibs on the children, not the parents. This clip is from Russian Television.
