August 12, read through the Bible in a year.

In between Ephesians and Philippians we read two Psalms and two chapters of Isaiah.

August 12:  Psalm 75Psalm 76, Isaiah 9, Isaiah 10 (click on the chapter to begin reading).

Psalm 75, of Asaph. A song of praise to the LORD. The theme is He executes proper judgement. It ends with: All the horns of the wicked I will also cut off, But the horns of the righteous shall be exalted.

Psalm 76, of Asaph. A song that praises the LORD, how He confounds the “stouthearted” but saves the meek.

Isaiah 9. A must read chapter of Isaiah. It speaks of “The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.” Then it states: “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” It speaks of Christ, the coming Messiah, both his humanity (a child) and his deity (son of God).

Isaiah 10 speaks of the punishment of Syria (and Assyria), then the temnant of Israel shall return.

The Christmas Gospel, according to the prophet Isaias and the times we live in.

From the Dead sea scroll, found in a cave near the Dead Sea in 1947 was a complete and nearly undamaged scroll of the Book of Isaiah. It was copied from earlier manuscripts no later than 140 B.C, probably much earlier. This proves that it is a true prophecy of events yet to take place.

The Galilee of the Gentiles!

In verse 2 is the beginning of the Gospel of Isaiah.

It also shows the unity of God, Father, Prince of Peace, Wonderful Counselor, three aspects of God, three in one, the triune God, the Trinity.

 

Jeremiah 9:10 has been quoted by politicians as a message of resilience and hope. This message was scribbled by President Obama in 2012 on a building near Ground Zero. Other Politicians have quoted Jeremiah 9:10. John Edwards quoted it directly on the third anniversary of 9/11, not realizing that the message is not one of hope, but of utter arrogance.

 

These are the times we are living in, and the Gospel (good news) has come!   Rejoice!   Pray for a revival among God’s people, and an awakening among all people!

There is one more instance of El Gibbor in the Old Testament. In Jeremiah 32:18 it says: “Thou shewest lovingkindness unto thousands, and recompensest the iniquity of the fathers into the bosom of their children after them: the Great, the Mighty God, (El Gibbor) YHWH of hosts, is his name,”

This time there is no question that El Gibbor is Jehovah himself.
It is also a good time to recollect the most common names of God.

The Annunciation in Luke 1 also states that Jesus will be the Son of God, indirectly God himself coming to earth as a child.
