Proverbs 18, proverbs of Solomon. One proverb is a gem: “Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the LORD.” I did. This is the NIV version: “One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.” My (Zondervan) copy of the NIV reads “A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.” The King James version reads: ” A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.” Translations can be tricky.
