March 30, read through the Bible in a year.

Today there are four chapters, the Pentateuch is ended and Joshua begins. Enjoy!

March 30: Luke 9, Joshua 1, Joshua 2, Joshua 3 (click on the chapter to begin reading)

In Luke 9 Jesus is sending out the twelve apostles, Herod tries to meet with him, Jesus fame is rising, at one time he is feeding the Five Thousand (besides women and children). Then comes Peter’s Confession of Christ followed by the Transfiguration, the next day a boy with an evil spirit is healed and the disciples argue about who is the Greatest.  Jesus speaks against sectarianism. On their way to Jerusalem they meet Samaritan opposition. Finally there is a cost of following Jesus.

Joshua 1, God’s Commission to Joshua, The Order to Cross the Jordan, “Only be strong and of a good courage”.

Joshua 2 tells the story of the innkeeper Rahab and the Spies. From this story we get the idiom “a scarlet thread”.

In Joshua 3 the Israelites are finally crossing the Jordan.
