Day 90 of reading the Holy Bible in 365 days.

Mark 3:20-35. After being accused of being possessed by Beelzebub Jesus began teaching in parables. He issued a strong warning: “All sins can be forgiven except blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.” Jesus mother and brothers tried to meet him, but Jesus reminded all: “Whoever does God’s will is my brother and sister and mother”.

Joshua 7. After the tremendous victory over mighty Jericho, Joshua was humiliated at Ai. Why? Was it because they tried to do it in their own strength or was it the sin of Achan?

Today we read a much quoted chapter of Luke and one chapter of Joshua, enjoy!

April 2: Luke 12,  Joshua 8 (click on the chapter to begin reading)

Luke 12, Jesus wass teaching: “Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees,” “even very hairs of your head are all numbered,” “His eyes are on the sparrow,” “acknowledge me before men” and “anyone who blasphemes the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.” “Do not worry, the Holy Spirit will give you the words to say when you are persecuted for my sake”. Jesus claimed he is not the arbiter in worldly disputes and strongly urged people not to hoard riches here on earth. Again, do not Worry, look at the lilies, (my interpretation: Smell the roses and enjoy God’s creation).  Be the faithful and watchful servant, not the evil and drunken one. Finally,  Christ will bring division, even among family members, so discern the times and make peace.

April 12: Luke 22,  Judges 8 (click on the chapter to begin reading)

Luke 22. Judas agrees to betray Jesus, it is Passover so Jesus eats  the Last Supper with his disciples, after which they go to the garden of Gethsemane where Jesus prays. While there Jesus is betrayed, arrested and taken to the house of the high priest. While waiting outside Peter disowns Jesus three times before the cock crows. Jesus is interrogated during the night and before daybreak they have heard enough.

Judges 8.  Gideon Defeats the Midianites, it is getting complicated but read it anyhow. After the great victory Gideon makes an Ephod from the Ishmaelites’ golden earrings and this becomes a snare to them all. Finally Gideon dies and immediately after that the Israelites falls back into idolatry, worshiping Baal.
